On 1x I felt the narration was whispy, but at 2x I really liked it. Something about the voice matched the character in my head. I started the book hesitant because I know it was kinda a ghost story and that normally isn’t my thing, but by the end, I was fully in the book. Part of the book does have the character live through historical events - George Floyd murder and the pandemic. I found the pandimic description to be very real to what I saw and remember. As a white guy with vague native american ansesstry on both sides and coming from Oklahoma I found it interesting to hear about native american culture in another part of the country.
